Named for its white to light green flowers, the newly described orchid Saccolabiopsis viridiflora marks the first time an orchid from this genus has been reported in Vietnam.

The small flowers open widely in full bloom but are odorless.

The WWF surveys that found S. viridiflora between 2005 and 2006 also found four other newly named orchid species, as well as four more orchids that might be new to science but are still being investigated.
