Switzerland, August 18, 2007—What better way to call attention to shrinking natural assets?

Nearly 600 volunteers posed nude on a glacier in the Swiss Alps to protest global warming, which is blamed for the contraction of glaciers around the world—including most of Switzerland's 1,800 icy flows.

Working with several camera crews, photographer Spencer Tunick arranged the display for the environmental group Greenpeace. For at least a decade the U.S. artist has been organizing similar spectacles, including naked crowds in Mexico City and reclining nudes in Nevada.
