Cyclone in Muscat, Oman

Cars at dealership lay submerged in sand on June 11, 2007, after Cyclone Gonu lashed Muscat.

Gonu tore through Oman before veering toward Iran. The storm killed at least 49 people and left another 27 missing in Oman, police said.

With winds of up to 92 miles an hour (148 kilometers an hour), it was the first documented cyclone in the Arabian Sea and affected more than 20,000 people.
