August 28, 2007—After 15 years tracking and filming polar bears, walruses, and other Arctic life for the coming-of-age adventure movie, Arctic Tale, filmmakers were able to offer a rare glimpse into these animals' intimate moments.

And each year the team noticed that the animals' frozen habitat was slowly shrinking, an event many scientists say is being caused by global warming. Arctic Tale was produced by National Geographic Films. (National Geographic News is part of the National Geographic Society.)

Bundle up and trek alongside the moviemakers as they document the animals struggling to stay alive in this changing landscape.
