Video: Humpback Whales' Feeding Frenzy

Email to a Friend

July 6, 2007—In the cool oceans of Alaska, humpback whales work as a team to catch their meal—by blowing a net of bubbles. The endangered mammals actually herd herring with a ring of bubbles, trapping them.

Then, the whales rocket to the surface, mouths open, to capture the fish.

Tag along with scientists as they record the feeding whales with a National Geographic Society Crittercam. (National Geographic News is part of the National Geographic Society.)
