In many parts of India rain and floods contaminate drinking water resources. "Rain water has entered into protected drinking water systems in over 500 villages and four towns", M. Danakishore, district chief of Kurnool town in Andhra Pradesh state, told the Reuters news agency
Since mid-June rainstorms have killed over 150 people and affected tens of thousands of people in the states of Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, and Kerala.
