Bedawi, Lebanon, May 22, 2007—A Palestinian boy adds fuel to a fire of protest outside a Palestinian refugee camp in northern Lebanon.

The demonstration came after three days of attacks by the Lebanese army on an adjacent camp in an effort to root out members of an Islamist militant group.

A temporary cease-fire declared later in the day permitted nearly half of that camp's 31,000 refugees to flee to safer areas.

The short-lived truce also permitted UN workers to administer aid in the camps, which the AFP news service described as "squalid."
