Dakar, Senegal, April 4, 2007—Traditional dancers perform at the second inauguration of Senegalese President Abdoulaye Wade. In its peacefulness the inauguration itself was somewhat less than traditional, by African standards.

"We have shown the world that in Africa, as in all the world's major democracies, we can wake up on the morning following an election and count votes instead of bodies," Wade told a crowd of 60,000 during the ceremony.
