Northeastern Kenya

Somalian refugees flee from an oncoming dust storm at Ifo camp in northeastern Kenya near the border of Somalia.

Kenya recently closed its borders to refugees but is considering reopening them, even as fighting in fractured Somalia continues to escalate. Ethiopian troops recently swept into Somalia to assist the internationally supported transitional government in its battle against a coalition called the Islamic Courts Union, and aid groups expect a flood of new refugees into Kenya.
