January 3, 2007—Monkeying around can have some serious consequences—especially for one group of Japanese macaques.

The macaques, also known as snow monkeys, are the only primates other than humans that can survive extreme cold. But a small group of them was forced out of their chilly abode after they angered merchants in Kyoto, Japan, by raiding stores.
