Thin, translucent petals form the starlike bloom of this newfound species of orchid discovered in Papua New Guinea.

Researchers with the international conservation group WWF found at least eight new species of orchid while exploring the country's remote rain forests in 1998, 2000, and 2006.

This as-yet-unnamed species belongs to the genus Taeniophyllum, whose members are notable for their lack of leaves.
