New Marine Species Discovered in Indonesia

This square-spot anthias is one of several deep-water fish found to be thriving in shallow waters during the survey. The species was observed in Cenderawasih Bay, located in the northeast section of Indonesia's Bird's Head Seascape.

In addition to its vibrant coral reefs and abundant fish populations, the seascape is home to whales, sea turtles, crocodiles, giant clams, manta rays, and dugongs.
