June 6, 2006—Most people are perfectly happy to admire it from the rim of the Grand Canyon, but each year thousands of visitors hike down to brave the white water of the Colorado River.

Over the course of some 250 miles (400 kilometers), the river drops nearly 2,000 feet (600 meters) through unruly rapids, making for a wilder ride than you're likely to find on dry land.

Get a rafter's-eye view of the Grand Canyon, and see for yourself the unique thrills of the Colorado River.
