April 14, 2006—Spring is in the air in the South Atlantic's Falkland Islands (see map)—and so are hundreds of birds! Of the many species making their annual breeding visit, a notoriously mischievous bird of prey called the Johnny rook has captured the attention of inquisitive filmmakers.

See the birds—known as flying devils—play what could be called April Fool's pranks on the visiting crew, and find out what the cameras eventually reveal about the rooks' poorly understood nighttime habits.
