Video: Maya Ruins Discovered From Space

February 28, 2006—Hidden by thick vegetation for more than a thousand years, a Maya complex near San Bartolo, Guatemala (map) was discovered in 2004, NASA announced on February 15. Working with university scientists, the space agency detected the lost settlement via telltale patterns of discolored plants in satellite images.

Watch as these space-age archaeologists uncover clues and eventually, deep in the Central American jungle, the lost city itself.
