An abandoned locomotive is slowly swallowed by jungle growth in the Dariin Gap.

A railway built by the British to transport gold mined near the Colombian border ran through part of the Darien until the early 1900s. Panamanian officials are resisting pressure from Colombia to build a road through the wilderness region.
