Thousands of refugees are scheduled to be relocated from the Superdome to the Astrodome in Houston, Texas, following orders to evacuate New Orleans. Evacuation of the Superdome was temporarily suspended Thursday morning, after gunshots reportedly were fired at a military helicopter nearby. People in other parts of New Orleans continued their attempts to leave the city.
