In contrast to the ocean "splashdowns" of the Apollo program, the new lunar missions will parachute to a dry landing, using airbags on the bottom of the capsule as cushions. Upon completion of the mission, the capsule's heat shield will be replaced, and the capsule will be reused up to nine more times.
