Hurricane Katrina Approaches Florida

Part of the roof of the Louisiana Superdome came off in the high winds of Hurricane Katrina, which blew through the area early on August 29, 2005 in New Orleans, Louisiana. More than 9,000 people who were unable to flee New Orleans took shelter inside the Superdome. Katrina was downgraded to a Category Four storm as it approached New Orleans.
