Coffin for Tutankhamun's Viscera

Rendered in gilded wood and faience, this coffin was specifically designed to hold King Tutankhamun's mummified internal organs, which were believed to be essential equipment for the afterlife.

The exhibition is on display from November 4, 2004, through May 1, 2005, at the Kunst- und Ausstellungshalle (Art and Exhibition Hall of the Federal Republic of Germany) in Bonn, Germany (more on the exhibition).
