Hikers, hunters, and other recreational users in California national forests and backcountry areas have reported that they've been chased away at gunpoint by marijuana growers brandishing high-caliber rifles and handguns. During a raid earlier this summer, U.S. Forest Service law enforcement officer Richard Coots gathers ammunition (above), including a shotgun shell, from a marijuana garden complex along the Shasta-Trinity National Forest in northern California.
