Pot sherds and stone tools litter an archaeological site near Tell Afar in northern Iraq. Tell Afar, an area with a series of cities reaching back to the fourth millennium B.C., was the site where team member Tony Wilkinson of the University of Chicagos Oriental Institute worked until 1990.
