In addition to winning the Webby in the education category, Nationalgeographic.com won the People's Voice award for the same category. The People's Voice award this year was decided by a majority vote of more than 200,000 regular online users of Web sites.
The Webby Awards is considered the leading international honor for Web sites and individual achievement in technology and creativity. The Academy evaluates Web sites based on six criteria: content, structure and navigation, visual design, functionality, interactivity, and overall experience.
Nationalgeographic.com was launched by the National Geographic Society in 1996. Today, the site averages more than 20 million page views per month and has been honored with virtually all the industry's leading awards.
